APG School ranked 4th among the 11 schools in Bahrain that participated in the online Maths Competition known as WOLD MATHS DAY 2009. 32,058 schools in 200 countries participated throughout the globe where APG ranked 973rd.
WORLD MATHS DAY, aimed at uniting with the students and school from around the World, is the largest online global Maths competition where students played against each other in Mental Arithmetic games. Each game last for 60 seconds and students played as many as they wish. The questions were appropriately individualized to the appropriate age/grade/level. The challenge is to correctly answer more than 452,681,681 questions in 48 hours.
139 Students from grade 3 to grade 9 participated in the competition where 6 students received gold award. Noor Hussain Ali of Grade 3D ranked 1st with 15,796 correct answers and Hassan Ali Hassan of Grade 7B ranked 1st with 59 questions answered in 60 seconds. The school’s participation was made possible through the Maths Coordinator Ms. Yen with the support of the Principal Ms. Ebtisam, Vice Principal Ms. Rashida and Math teachers: Ms. Princess, Ms. Emma, Ms. Cecile, Ms. Nennete, Ms. June, Ms. Leonor and Ms. Grace.
WORLD MATH DAY VIDEO CHALLENGE
The 7A students received a special certificate ( Gold Award) in recognition of the Video they made as part of the World Maths Day Video Challenge. Ms. Jayne Warburton, the national director of 3P learning, the company which hosts World Maths Day each year personally handed to 7A students the certificate during the morning assembly on 29th April, 2009.
This is the First time APG School participated in the competition yet it already made a big bang by having been presented a special certificate for the Video Challenge and for ranking 4th among the 11 schools in Bahrain that participated in the competition.
